Clean Coal Technology Centre - CCTW

CCTW comprises of three parts:

Laboratories in Główny Instytut Górnictwa - Central Mining Institute, Katowice: Innovative research laboratories which are located in a new building. The laboratories are equipped with research equipment and appliances. The CCTW laboratories support interdisciplinary research. The laboratories have the analytic capabilities for analyses on the properties of solids, liquids and gases (in particular fuels), analyses within process engineering, as well as supporting works from the energy, geo-engineering and environmental engineering sectors. Technological unit on the premises of the “Barbara” Experimental Mine of Główny Instytut Górnictwa - Central Mining Institute, Mikołów: comprises the underground testing range for analyzing coal gasification, module for separation and purification of process gases applying PSA, membrane and absorption methods – in particular for CO2 removal and hydrogen production. The description of laboratories of CCTW Mikołów

Technological unit on the premises of Instytut Chemicznej Przeróbki Węgla - Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal, Zabrze: comprises of technological installations in various scales, including the PDU scale (Process Development Unit), new installation and testing stand modules enabling conducting tests in the area of gasification processes and pressurized oxy-combustion of solid fuels, to remove CO2 in absorption reactor, to convert fuels in a reactor with chemical looping combustion as well as to pulverise, sieve and prepare coal blends. The technological unit of CCTW comprises also an auxiliary technical infrastructure: oxygen generation plant, fan coolers, warehouses, storage yards and storehouses (technical gases etc.). The description of test stands from technological unit in IChPW
